This grand opening marks the third business opening for Sherard Brown, the brains behind the Heavy Spoon. Brown also owns a cleaning service and a beauty supply store on Bradley.
During the grand opening, many of Brown’s friends and family stopped by to congratulate him on the opening. Many of them signed sweet and encouraging messages on a chalk wall towards the back of the restaurant.
The one-of-a-kind eatery features a variety of different cereals for someone to choose from as well as different ice creams to have or pair with the cereal.
On top of that, they have various cereal Rice Krispie style treats as well as marshmallows coated in chocolate and dipped in cereal.
Having always wanted to own businesses, one of Brown’s dreams was to one day own a restaurant of some kind.
“Not necessarily this food, this type of food, but in general. This is what came to me first,” said Brown.
After seeing different versions of restaurants selling various cereal-themed foods and desserts on TikTok and other social media platforms, Brown knew this was what he wanted to sell.
The cereal bar, while a smaller venue, has several seating options.
Additionally, the restaurant also sells a bucket that a person can pay $20 to have filed l with ice cream and cereal.
If you eat everything in the bucket in under 20 minutes, then you win a prize, which varies on different days.
Co-manager Kawona W. assures that “it’s definitely worth it.”
On top of that the store offers punch cards to customers who buy an ice cream bowl that when all the punches are filled, they will receive a free one. Courtesy of Heavy Spoon.
Be sure to check them out sometime and taste the delicious ice cream-cereal combinations.
