MILLINGTON, Tenn. – The Parkland College Baseball team came from behind to take a late lead over Carl Sandberg College on Saturday, March 11th, at the USA Stadium March Madness II, but the Cobras could not close out the Chargers, and Parkland lost 9-8. Sophomore Logan Reidelberger (2-4, 2 RBI, R) led the team with two RBI, and both Ryan Snell (1-4, RBI, R, BB) and Charlie Marisca (1-3, RBI, R, BB) tripled in the game. Parkland outhit Carl Sandberg 11-8, but the three Cobra errors cost them in the end, and the Chargers scored two in the bottom of the 9th to steal the win.
Sophomore Tresdon Rybarczyk (5.0 IP, 5 H, 4 ER, 7 K) struck out seven of the 22 batters he faced in his fourth start this year. Louis Stallone (1.2 IP, 2 H, 1 ER, 4 K) relieved Rybarczyk in the 6th, and freshman William O’Gorman (1-1) earned the first loss of his career despite striking out four in two innings of work.
Parkland’s originally scheduled game against No. 6 Kirkwood Community College on Saturday, March 11th, was canceled in the top of the 2nd inning due to inclement weather. The game will not be rescheduled.
Up next, the Cobras matchup against Rock Valley College and No. 6 Kirkwood Community College tomorrow, March 12th, as Parkland continues to compete in the USA Stadium March Madness II. The Cobras are scheduled to face the Rock Valley Eagles (5-7) at 10:00 AM and the Kirkwood Eagles (12-4) at 4:00 PM on Sunday.
