Parkland College has welcomed a new student organization to campus. The Cobra Investment Society (CIS) joins the list of nearly thirty other active student clubs and organizations, and Kha Nguyen, Co-President of the Cobra Investment Society, is excited to spread the word.
The Cobra Investment Society (CIS) is a student organization dedicated to learning about investing and was founded by Parkland College students Kha Nguyen and Rene Juarez-Cuevas, during the Fall 2021 semester.
Nguyen said, “I just want to get the word out that there is an investment club here on campus. I think that many students at Parkland are interested in stocks and investing but they don’t know about CIS.” Any student who is interested in investing should consider joining this group of dedicated individuals. These students are working hard to expand their knowledge and likeness on the subject of investment. Nguyen added, “Our meetings consist of investment analysis and stock market discussions. Occasionally, we have guest speakers working in the investment industry come in to share their experiences and advice. Ultimately, our goal is to cultivate the next generation of investors.”
Like many other student organizations at Parkland, the benefits of joining The Cobra Investment Society reach far beyond a satisfactory experience and often opens up the doors to creating friendships that last a lifetime. Nguyen explained, “The CIS it is a great educational resource and personally, I think that everyone should be comfortable with personal finance and investing. It also looks great on a resume; employers love it when students are involved on campus. And it’s a great way to meet new people and make friends. I met one of my good friends through CIS and we’re even planning to live together next year.”
Parkland College’s Cobra Investment Society plans to meet every Thursday from 2-3 PM starting next semester. Nguyen encouraged, “Students who are interested in joining should give us a follow-on Instagram @parklandcis, more information regarding meetings will be posted there.”
