JASPER, Ind. – The Parkland College golf team won the 2021 M-WAC Conference Tournament on Monday afternoon with a score of 12 over par, 588, at Sultan’s Run Golf Club in Jasper, IN. The Cobras won by 10 strokes and, individually, two Cobras finished All-Conference. Corey Neville won the conference title, with a two-round score of -2, and Joel Petersson finished T3 with a score of +2.
The Cobras did not start out in front, sitting four shots behind Heartland Community College after a first round score of 293, but consistency was key. In the second round the opponents all shot over 300 while the Cobras followed up their first round with a second round 295. Parkland has now won five conference titles under Head Coach Corbin Sebens.
Individually, Corey Neville gets the win, finishing two under par after shooting -2 in the first round and even par 72 in the second. Joel Petersson also shot a 72 in round two which, paired with an opening round 74, was good enough for a T3 finish. All five Cobras finished top 10, with Scott O’Brien finishing 6th at +4, and both Dain Richie and Alex White finishing tied for ninth at +10.
Up next, Parkland travels to Crown Point, Ind., to play in the Mike Lalaeff Memorial. The tournament takes place on Saturday, October 9 and Sunday, October 10, at the White Hawk Country Club.
