CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – The No. 18 ranked Parkland College Baseball team resumed conference play in a home doubleheader against Danville Area Community College on Friday, April 14th, as the Cobras picked up right where they left off, sweeping the Jaguars at the Parkland College Baseball Field. The Cobras (27-8) (9-5) came out on top 11-8 in an action-packed game one before starting pitcher Carter Monke (6-1) shutout DACC in a five-inning 10-0 win in game two. Infielders Austin Gomm, Chase Becker, and Logan Reidelberger led the Cobras with three RBI on Friday, and sophomore shortstop Jackson Blemler recorded an extra-base hit in both games.
Up next, Parkland will travel to Danville Area Community College for another M-WAC doubleheader on Saturday, April 15th. First pitch against the Jaguars (12-16) (7-11) is scheduled for noon on Saturday.

The Cobras trailed early, falling behind 3-1 in the top of the 2nd inning, but Parkland took the lead in the bottom of the 3rd when Nate Bingman (1-4) reached base on an error, scoring two runs to make it 5-3. The Jaguars threatened with runners on the corners and one out in the top of the 6th, but reliever Brendan Katz (3.2 IP, 8 H, 2 ER, 2 K) got out of the jam, and Jackson Blemler (2-3, HR, 3 R, 2 BB) opened the bottom of the inning with a solo home run to right field. The Cobras led 10-4 by the end of the 6th, and an RBI double from Tyler Herron (2-4, 2B, 2 RBI, R) in the 8th made the score 11-6. DACC looked to rally in the top of the 9th, scoring two, but it was too little, too late, and Parkland won 11-8.
Sophomore Tresdon Rybarczyk (3-1) earned the win in his eighth start this season, allowing eight hits and three earned runs in five and 1/3 innings of work, striking out four.

Parkland got things going in the 1st inning, taking the lead on a Chase Becker (2-3, 2B, RBI, 2 R) double, and the Cobras led 3-0 after Nate Bingman (3-3, RBI, 2 R) drove in Logan Reidelberger (1-2, 2B, R, 2 RBI, BB). The hosts doubled their lead in the 2nd, and Parkland took a 7-0 lead on a Jackson Blemler (2-3, 2B, RBI, R, BB) single.
Starting pitcher Carter Monke (5.0 IP, 1 H, 0 ER, 3 BB, 7 K) allowed just one hit in the top of the 4th inning on Friday evening, striking out seven batters in the shutout. Right fielder Angelo Luna scored Charlie Marisca on a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the 5th, and Austin Gomm (2-4, 2B, 3 RBI, R) ended the game with a 2-RBI double to run-rule DACC 10-0 in game two.
