MILLINGTON, Tenn. – The No. 20 ranked Parkland College Baseball team scored four runs in the top of the 9th inning, and the Cobras defeated Iowa Lakes Community College 6-2 on Tuesday, March 14th, in their final game at the USA Stadium March Madness II. Shortstop Tylor Phommachanhom (1-3, RBI, 2 R, BB, SB) scored Jaden Lamothe (1-3, R) on an RBI single for the go-ahead run, and freshmen Ryan Snell (1-4, 2 RBI, BB) drove in two runs to lead the Cobras in a third straight win. Parkland outhit Iowa Lakes 8-4 to finish the USA Stadium March Madness with a 3-1 record.
Second-year Parkland head coach Anthony Silkwood loves his team’s passion at this point of the season, saying, “Spring trips show you a lot, and it’s fun to see these guys enjoy time together. They are a fun group of players who love to play the game.

Freshman Brenden Katz (5.0 IP, 3 H, 2 ER, 5 K) made his first start against the Lakers (1-9), allowing three hits in five innings. Sophomore Jacob Young (1-0) relieved Katz in the sixth, earning his first win of the season with nine strikeouts over four innings, allowing just one hit.
Centerfielder Josh Outlaw (3-4, RBI, 2 R, 5 SB) led the team in hits and stole a season-high five bases against Iowa Lakes, while freshmen Jayden Cummings (0-0, BB, 3 SB) stole three bags in the 8th and 9th inning.
“We have one game left tomorrow to finish strong on this road trip,” Silkwood said after the win, “And we’re looking forward to starting conference play on Friday!”
Up next, Parkland travels to Senatobia, Mississippi, tomorrow, March 15th, for a game at Northwest Mississippi Community College. First pitch against the Rangers (13-8) is scheduled for 2:00 PM.
