RANTOUL, Ill. – The No. 20 ranked Parkland College Baseball team continued its winning ways on Tuesday, March 21st, as the Cobras picked up two more wins against Spoon River College at the Rantoul Sports Complex, completing the season-series sweep over the Snappers. The Cobras (16-3) (4-0) shutout their opponent in an 8-0 win in game one before allowing just one hit in a 6-1 victory in game two. Five players went deep for Parkland on Tuesday, and pitchers Carter Monke (4-0) and Sam Bryan (2-0) earned wins as the Cobras extended their current winning streak to eight straight games.
Up next, Parkland faces Quincy University JV at the Rantoul Sports Complex tomorrow, March 22nd. First pitch against the Hawks is scheduled for noon on Wednesday.

Sophomore Austin Gomm (3-4, 2 RBI, 3 R, HR, SB) picked up where he left off yesterday, sending a 2-run home run out to center field to give the Cobras a 2-0 lead over the Snappers (7-11) in the top of the 1st inning. Designated hitter Logan Reidelberger (2-2, 3 RBI, BB) extended the Parkland lead to 3-0 with an RBI single in the top of the 3rd and two Cobra home runs from Ryan Snell (1-4, HR) and Tyler Herron (1-3, 2 RBI) in the top of the 5th put the team in front 7-0. Sophomore Jackson Blemler (1-3, 2 R, SB) scored his 21st run of the season in the 6th, and Parkland won 8-0 in six innings.
Starting pitcher Carter Monke (4.0 IP, 2 H, 0 ER, 7 K) allowed just two hits in his fourth start this season. Redshirt sophomore Jacob Young (2.0 IP, 0 H, 0 ER, 6 K) struck out all six batters he faced in relief.

The Cobras struck in the top of the 1st inning again, as redshirt sophomore Nathan Waldridge lifted a solo home run over the center field fence and sophomore Nate Bingman (1-3, RBI, 2 BB, SB) lined an RBI double to right field to make it 2-0. Sophomore Austin Gomm (2-5, RBI, 2 R) extended the lead with an RBI double, and Waldridge (2-4, 2 RBI, HR, BB) drove him in to give Parkland a 4-0 lead in the 2nd. The Cobras led 5-0 in the 7th inning before the Snappers hit a solo home run for their first hit in game two. Parkland catcher Charlie Marisca (3-4, RBI, HR, BB) launched the team’s 3rd homer of the day in the top of the 9th, and the Cobras won 6-1.
Freshman Sam Bryan (4.0 IP, 0 H, 0 ER, 7 K) earned the win after not allowing a hit in four innings of work and striking out seven of the 16 batters he faced. Brendan Katz (3.1 IP, 1 H, 1 ER, 4 K) relieved Bryan in the 5th inning, and Sebastian Gutierrez (1.2 IP, 0 H, 0 ER, 4 K) closed out the win.
