ST. ANNE, Ill. – The No. 4 Parkland College golf team started its spring season with a win at the par-72 Kankakee Elks Country Club on Friday, March 24th, as the Cobras won the Spring Tiger Invite hosted by Olivet Nazarene University. Parkland College shot a team score of 289 (+1) to beat the field by 16 strokes on Friday, as all six Parkland golfers finished in the top 10. Sophomore Roo Fenwick took down freshman Jack Sciaudone in a playoff to win the individual title after the two Cobras tied for first with rounds of 70 (-2).
Parkland College head coach Corbin Sebens was happy to see his team’s hard work pay off after the win, saying, “This was a great team win, and I am excited about how these guys rose to the challenge in difficult conditions.”
“I could not be more proud of Jack and Roo for the way they played today,” Sebens boasted. “Shooting under par in those conditions was impressive. I am so happy for Roo to finally get his first tournament win. He has been knocking on the door to get that win, and for him to finally get it done shows the mindset he has this spring.”
Up next, the Cobras travel to Noblesville, Indiana, next weekend for the Purgatory Intercollegiate, hosted by Taylor University at the Purgatory Golf Club. The two-day tournament kicks off on Friday, March 31st.
