CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – The Parkland men’s soccer team won their final home game of the season on Wednesday night, defeating Lincoln Trail College 4-1. Parkland has now won seven games in a row and have scored at least three goals in their last three games. The Cobras will finish the year 5-1-1 at home.
The Cobras (12-2-1) could not have asked for a better start, when Yamato Kline scored in the opening minute and Jonathon Velasquez followed with a goal in the 15th minute. Sophomore Eikichi Saito also found the back of the net in the 36th minute, but the Statesmen (4-11-1) quickly responded, scoring an unassisted goal in the 37th. Parkland had a much quieter second half, only registering four shots on goal, but freshmen Ben Martin was still able to score his second goal of the season in the 50th minute to make it 4-1. Parkland goalkeeper Sebastian Staddon had two saves in the win.
