DECATUR, Ill. – The No. 5 ranked Parkland College golf team finished round one of the Take Back the Night Challenge tied for first place on Friday, April 21st, at the par 72 Red Tail Run Golf Course. The Cobras tied NCAA Division III Illinois Wesleyan with a combined team score of 288 (E) on Friday evening, tied for the team’s lowest score this spring. Individually, Parkland is led by sophomore Dain Richie, whose three-under 69 places him in a five-way tie for first after one round, while Roo Fenwick is tied for sixth, just one shot back.
“I couldn’t be more proud of the guys today for the fight they showed when we didn’t have our best stuff,” head coach Corbin Sebens said after his team’s round-one performance.
“The way we finished today was huge to give us a chance tomorrow. We have a great opportunity tomorrow playing with one of the top Division III teams in the county in Illinois Wesleyan,” Sebens concluded.
Up next, the two-day tournament hosted by Millikin University shifts to the par 71 South Side Country Club tomorrow, April 22nd.
