Walking down the halls of Parkland’s campus, engaging in casual conversation with fellow students, and participating in classroom activities; these are just some of the shots that Parkland College’s marketing team will be capturing for upcoming promotions, and students are invited to get involved!
The promotion will include various shots of students partaking in everyday campus routines and activities. The advertisements will be seen through an array of local media outlets: billboards, television, social media channels, websites, etc.
Parkland students, both part-time and full-time, of any age or academic program are eligible to participate. Ruthie M. Counter, Associate Director of Marketing and Public Relations, emphasizes having real students. She explained, “Having real Parkland College students modeling in our ads gives our promotions greater authenticity. Prospective college students often identify more readily with a college where they know a person who attends it.”
Marketing is a significant part of all businesses, institutions, and brands. There is no exception for higher education facilities. Counter said, “Colleges, Parkland included, must keep the benefits of higher education top of mind with high school students and returning adult students. Marketing plays an important role in generating and maintaining that awareness.”
Participating students will be asked to dress in darker colors with the absence of patterns, insignia, or other loud designs. Parkland College spirit wear is approved, of course. This modeling promotion can provide students with experience which can be included in resumes or portfolios for prospective positions, jobs, careers, etc. The opportunity to connect with others is also ever-present, especially in Parkland College initiatives such as this. The photoshoot will take place from 11 am to noon on Tuesday, September 27th, and Wednesday, September 28th.
