Summer is here, and for some students it means the chance to clear out schedules and pack their bags for vacation in the warm weather we long for all semester. This summer, The Prospectus has decided to tag along and cover a summertime favorite for many college-goers: music festivals.
In the past, we’ve covered music events happening in Champaign-Urbana and surrounding areas, but this time we’ve decided to expand our horizons and see what’s going on outside of our backyard.
We kicked off our travels in Chillicothe, Ill. for Summer Camp Music Festival, a four-day event and a well-known festival produced by Urbana’s Canopy Club owner, Jay Goldberg Events and Entertainment. Our writer Scott Barnes was able to get behind the scenes and even talk with Sun Stereo, a band hailing from Urbana, Ill.
Our next stop will be at Sonic Bloom Music Festival, which will take place this year in Hummingbird Ranch, Spanish Peaks Country in Colorado from June 18-21. We hope to capture the event and bring it back to our readers to give them a chance to experience it a whole 1,054 miles away.
The Prospectus will also be attending All Good Festival in West Virginia and Phases of the Moon Music Festival, now located in Ozark, Arkansas.
